ELTAM Day

First national conference for English Language Teachers ELTAM DAY took place on 9 May, 2015 in the premises of Faculty of Economics in Podgorica. ELTAM day was organized with the support of The Ministry of Education, Bureau for Education Services, British Embassy in Podgorica, British Council Montenegro, American Embassy in Podgorica and American Corner.
The aim of this event was to wrap up the first phase of the Teacher Leadership Project in Montenegro and organise the day when the English language teachers’ community (English language teachers from all levels and sectors) in Montenegro can gather together and share innovative teaching ideas, their CPD concerns, experiences and successes.
The focus of the event was on practical and theoretical ideas which can aid understanding of new developments in ELT and can enhance classroom experiences.
The participants included primary, secondary and tertiary level English language teachers in Montenegro.
Welcoming words were given by: Ambassador of the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and North Ireland to Montenegro Mr Ian Whitting, Vanja Madzgalj, Country Director of British Council Montenegro, Svetlana Kandybovich, Teacher Leadership Training Project at British Council Montenegro, Dusanka Popovic from Bureau for Education Services, Anna Sunshine Ison from the U.S. Embassy Podgorica, Milena Vucelic from American Corner and Marina Simović from ELTAM.
Plenary speakers were Draginja Jeftic who talked about 21st Century Education, Mark Andrews from Teacher and Student Training Programme in Devon, UK and Richard Wilford who talked about Scholarship Scheme for Studies in the UK.

After plenary sessions the participants took part in the workshops did by Draginja Jeftic (Fun Activities in the Classroom), Mark Andrews (Language Acquisition at an Early Age), Ivana Milosevic (Once upon a Time – Storytelling in the Primary Classroom), John Rogers (Dressing Old Ideas in New Clothes), Anja Prentic (Roma Culture Inclusive Teaching – Methodology) and Svetlana Kandybovich (Gamification: Turning a Test into a Game).
Very interesting part of this conference were six Pecha Kucha presentations held by: Dragana Radoman, Zorka Radonjic, Natalija Savicević, Tanja Djonlaga, Brittany Jacoby, Richard Fox, Mackenzie Smith and Amber Hill.
The last part of the conference was ELTAM Board election. The newly elected president, vice president and Board members are: Dragana Radoman (president), Zorka Radonjić (vice president), Svetlana Kandybovich, Tanja Djonlaga, Kristina Sebek, Bozidar Bukilic, Gordana Vukovic, Ivana Radulovic, Natalija Savicevic, Milka Cerovic, Marija Bojic, Milena Danilovic and Silvija Marnikovic.

Bookshops “Waves School” Budva, “Strana Knjiga” Niksic and Educational Centre prepared gifts for the teachers, while Mark Andrews from SOL awarded one English language teacher with a free training in England.
